Four of the nine mountains in this area are connected by connecting lifts: Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm. These links makes it extremely easy to take day trips to other areas. Schladming-Dachstein offers excellent opportunities for advanced skiers. One example in the Planai, which offers very fast and steep slopes.

Families can enjoy the excellent Galsterbergalm, Fageralm, Stoderzinken and on the other side of the Ennstal, Ramsau am Dachstein. In Ramsau cross-country skiers and hikers will also enjoy themselves with a range of different tracks.

Schladming-Dachstein is really a paradise for skiers. There is the longest descent in the alps here, as well as the Hochwurzen Playground for free style skiers and snow boarders.

The massive ski region of Ski Amadé consists of five different areas: Salzburger Sportwelt, Hochkönig Winterreich, Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein and Grossartal. Together, they account for around 270 lifts and approximately 860 kilometres of prepared runs. These ski areas are amongst the best in the world and world championships are held here regularly. The Ski Amadé region benefits from long seasons and the Dachstein Glacier makes the Schadming-Dachstein ski area pretty snow-sure, where you can ski into late April. If for any reason, there should be less snow than expected, don’t fret, since there are snow canons, which will cover up to 88% of the slopes with beautiful white powder snow.

For those who would like to stay connected on the slopes and would like to post the occasional selfie from the mountain, do not fret. The number of Wi-Fi hotspots has also been increased recently. The hotspots, approximately 300, are located in the valley and mountain stations and also within a number of huts and mountain restaurants. You can also, easily, log in and plan your ski route for the day. With the Ski Amadé ski pass you can ski in all five areas and you can use the public transport system to get from one area to another.

Sunweb Holidays offers options to the following areas:

Skiing in Salzburg Sports World

The ski resorts of Flachau, Wagrain, St. Johann im Pongau, Radstadt, Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Kleinarl, Eben and Filzmoos together, form the Salzburger Sportwelt. There is approximately 350 kilometres of runs and over 90 ski lifts. If you are an avid skier, then this is the perfect destination for you since there are many ski tours to be discovered in this beautiful area.

The simple and intermediate pistes ensure that beginners and intermediate skiers can enjoy the entire ski area. There are also some challenging black runs, particularly Zauchensee which is accessible via Flachauwinkl. The ski resort of Filzmoos is not directly connected to the other ski areas. In Filzmoos there are 8 lifts and 13 km varied slopes. Salzburger Sportswelt offers approximately 230 kilometres of cross-country trails!

Skiing in Hochkönig Winterreich

This hospitable and quaint ski area at the foot of the Hochkönig is a dream for skiers, snowboarders, cross-country skiers, hikers and families with children. From the picturesque villages Mühlbach and Maria Alm you can enjoy a beautiful day on the snowy slopes. Snow canons make sure that both resorts are snow-sure and the gondola from Maria Alm brings you directly to the 2000 meter high Aberg top, where your starting point is for some spectacular runs.

This ski area offers lots of variety. There is approximately 150 kilometres of runs and 31 ski lifts. Maria Alm and Mühlbach are connected with each other by ski bus. For the cross-country skiers, there is approximately 47 kilometres of trail to explore. The longest cross-country trail is in Maria Alm is 12 km long, which is lit during the evening.

If you want to venture further than the Hochkönig Winterreich area, this ski area is part of the Ski Amadé ski region. The lift pass for this area allows you to visit and ski or snowboard in the extended area as well. To get to the other ski areas within this ski region, you will, however, be needing your own transport.

Skiing in Schladming-Dachstein

Don’t miss out on the ski area of Schladming-Dachstein where they held the world championshops in February 2013. During the world cup of 2013, 85% of the slopes were open, which meant that everyone could ski and was content. This ski area also hosts an annual night-slalom, which attracts many people from the region and other tourist. You can expect lots of fun, folk music and true authentic Austrian “Gemütlichkeit”.

This modern ski area consists of nine mountains, with three of them above 2000 metres in altitude. Four of the nine mountains in this area are interconnected by various ski lifts and gondolas. The mountains that are interconnected are Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm, which makes this area perfect for day trips and tours. The villages of Haus im Ennstal, Mandling, Pichl, Rohmoos bei Schladming and Schladming  are all picturesque and friendly.

Schladming-Dachstein has lots to offer for advanced skiers. The Planai, for example, has very steep and fast slopes and the Reiteralm has, amongst other things, a black mogul field. For those, who are very competitive, you can even have your speeds measured for free while doing the run, you’ll be able to post you’re action shot online in no time, to show your skills off at home.

For families the ski resorts Galsterbergalm, Fageralm, Stoderzinken are perfect or choose to go to the other side of the valley, to Ransau am Dachstein. Ramsau is perfect for those who would prefer a more relaxed holiday. The slopes and runs here are great for novice and beginner skiers and snowboarders, it has the Hopsi-Kinderland for children and many trails for both cross-country skier and hikers. The runs will lead you through the forest from the Hauser Kaibling to Haus am Ennstal.
