Saalbach

Skiing in Saalbach, more accurately the Skicircus village, a famous traditional winter sports destination, offers endless ski and snowboard fun for its visitors. The lively village of Hinterglemm is located slightly higher up the mountain at the Glemmtal. Both villages are connected by the pistes as well as a ski bus service. The Skicircus offers a versatile ski area with a total of 270km of well-groomed slopes and no less than 70 cable cars and lifts; it’s one of the most varied ski areas in all of Austria.

You will find more than 50 restaurants when skiing in Saalbach, some of which are considered real local favourites. The cosy mountain huts also offer an excellent traditional culinary option. In these huts, while Glühwein is kept warm in a large pot on an open fire, you can sit back and try some traditional snacks.

Après-ski

Ski holidays in Saalbach are known for their long nights as well as their long skiing days. There are plenty of lively bars and night clubs where you can party until the early morning. If you are interested in more active après-ski, you can also head for the indoor swimming pool, the ice skating rink or the tennis and squash courts. And for those skiing in Saalbach who feel brave enough – you can even go paragliding over the Alps.

Ski Alpin ski pass

From this season, the Ski Alpin ski pass will now be included in your package to Saalbach. With this ski pass you will have access to 3 large ski areas: Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn, Schmitten Zell am See and Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. With this ski pass, you can use more than 400 kilometres of slopes and more than 119 lifts.

The Skicircus alone has 270 kilometres of piste and is one of the largest ski areas in Austria. You can also ski in the family ski area Schmitten, where you will find various theme runs for children. Finally, you can still visit the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. This is the only glacier in Salzburg and offers 100% snow certainty 365 days a year.

Map

Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn

The ski area of Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn is one of the best resorts in Austria and is rightfully referred to as the Ski Circus. More than 200 km (124 ml) of pistes are sure to give you enough choice for a great holiday!

The keener, advanced skier can head to the Schattberg side. Here on the Northern side, a 4 kilometre (3 ml) tough black run forms a formidable challenge to those who dare to try it! However the Western side also offers plenty to push even the most experienced skiers and boarders.

The Ski Circus is still an area in development. Every year new lifts are being built. If you are a beginner then you should take the lift to the Seekar area situated at a higher altitude. Here you can practice on easier pistes and still enjoy the fantastic views.

This region also caters for snowboarders. Besides half pipes and a snow park in Saalbach there are also special snowboard pistes available. After skiing or snowboarding, the cosy ski huts are great places to meet your fellow holiday makers. Saalbach is a small, peaceful village. Hinterglemm on the other hand has a more extensive après-ski with lots of English pubs as well.
