Location and surroundings

Sillian

On a stunning location at an altitude of 1100 meters in the Dolomites mountain range close to the Italian border, you will find the lively village of Sillian that still sees comparatively less visitors than some of the more well known resorts. The ski area, the Thurntaler, is located just outside the village and offers plenty of enjoyment for both novice and advanced skiers and snowboarders. There is also a public ice skating rink and a fun skittle alley known as the "Kegelstube". Sillian is also a real paradise for cross country skiers with approximately 200 kilometers of tracks and a 54 kilometer long cross country skiing track situated at an altitude of 1500 meters. In the evening the cosy bars attract plenty of visitors and before you know it you too may end up staying here longer than you might have intended!

This year you can book the Cross country skiing safari with your holiday staff on location. This safari is suitable for both novice and advanced cross country skiers. Novice cross country skiers are advised to take at least three days of lessons in Sillian before joining the Ski Safari. You will be transported by bus to three different, but all attractive cross country skiing areas in Austria and Italy. We will spend a day in Toblach that is part of the nature park of Sextner Dolomiten and in the Antholzertal where various lovely tracks depart from the Biathlon stadium. The third trip heads to Innervillgraten. This 12 kilometer long intermediate track starts at an altitude of 1400 meters and therefore enjoys excellent snow conditions. All these tracks are waiting to be explored!

This year the ski safari can be booked on location with our holiday staff as well. You will set off on an amazing tour with a professional guide and will be visiting the best spots in the Dolomites (1st day Helm, 2nd day Kronplatz, 3rd day Cortina d'Ampezzo, 4th day Sella Ronde and the 5th day Sillian-Thurntaler). A 4 day Dolomiti Super ski pass is included with the Safari. After the Safari you can still use the local Ski Hit Ski pass for two days.

Hochpustertal in Osttirol

The Hochpustertal in Osttirol is a ski area that benefits from a fantastic snow record. It is also very well laid out so benfits from hardly any queues at the lifts. The locals are also particularly hospitable and help create a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. The area is divided into the Obertilliach-Golzentipp and the Skizentrum Hochpustertal Thurntaler where the altitude varies from approximately 1100 metres (3,600 ft) up to 2407 metres (7,900 ft). At many spots you can enjoy breathtaking views and the resort also has some great off-piste trails. The lower prices in the area help make it even more attractive. Snowboarders can also enjoy themselves in either of the two snow parks.

The lift pass Ski Hit is valid in the areas of Matrei and Kals, Hochpustertal, Heiligenblut, Lienz, St. Jakob, Obertilliach and Kartitsch. Together this totals more than 170 km (106 ml) of pistes. Between Sillian, Obertilliach and Kartitsch there is a connecting ski bus service.
