Mayrhofen

Skiing in Mayrhofen, the thumping heart of the Zillertal, is not to be missed. Consisting of a collection of small alpine villages that have gradually grown into one another, the ski area is one of the most popular in Europe. There are ski areas that you can visit a few times you’ve seen it all, but with Mayrhofen ski holidays the different runs for both novice and advanced skiers mean you will always find something new and exciting.

When skiing in Mayrhofen, the Ahornbahn cable car brings you from the village to an altitude of around 2000m in only six minutes. For those looking for a luxury Mayrhofen ski holiday, you can choose to take the very modern Penkenbahn with panoramic views and built-in WiFi to the Ski Zillertal 3000 ski area which consists of over 225km of exciting pistes.

The Vans Penken Park is a paradise for freestylers; Harakiri, the steepest run in Austria, will give even the most experienced skier the chills; and on the Hintertux Glacier snow is guaranteed even in early spring; all this makes skiing in Mayrhofen a must for all winter sport enthusiasts. If all this still isn’t enough for you, you can always upgrade your lift pass to the entire Zillertal Ski Region, letting you explore the slopes of Kaltenbach, Fügen and Gerlos.

A ski holiday in Mayrhofen isn’t just about the slopes. As the sun sets behind the mountains, the streets fill with people on their way to the cafes, shops and booming nightclubs. You can swim, go to the cinema, hike, play tennis, ice skate – there is literally something for everyone when skiing in Mayrhofen.

Every year in April the acclaimed musical festival Snowboming takes place in Mayrhofen. At the end of the season partygoers flock to the ski area to enjoy the snow, the music, live gigs and the street parade. Mayrhofen forgets skiing and transforms into one big party both on and off the pistes. Please take into account that you need a special Snowbombing wristband in order to join the festivities. You can purchase these wristbands on location at the designated selling points.

Ski Zillertal 3000

Ski holidays in Ski Zillertal 3000 provide some of the most modern cable cars and lifts which travel across over 225km of pistes. With options for all levels, including the Hintertux Glacier, snowboarding and skiing in Ski Zillertal 3000 is a resort for everyone to consider.

Ski holidays in Ski Zillertal 3000 are possible as this unique region has been created thanks to the lift connection between Mayrhofen and Tux further up the valley. A 150-person cable-car links the two areas of Horberg/Gerent/Penken and Rastkogel/Eggalm.

Skiing in Ski Zillertal 3000 is made easier due to the excellent transport links to take you across the vast region. The resorts of Penken and Horberg are connected with each other by a small ski train and these areas are connected to the Tux ski resort by a cable car making travelling from area to area stress-free. The Hintertuxer glacier, with its almost always snow covered pistes, together with the even expanding arsenal of snow cannons provides the resort with an excellent snow record.

Between the resort stations of the ski lifts in Mayrhofen, Hippach and Finkenberg ski buses ride back and forth and can be used for free if you have a lift pass. When skiing in Ski Zillertal 3000, with your Zillertal lift pass you can also ski in Gerlos, Fügen and on the glacier.

If that’s not enough, the cross country tracks in Mayrhofen are lit up in the evening and you can go wild in one of the best snow parks when snowboarding and skiing in Ski Zillertal 3000, Burton Park in Mayrhofen. In short, this area really does offer everything you look for and more in a ski holiday.
