Gerlos

Snow-sure spot in the Zillertal ski area

Gerlos is one of the most famous and popular destinations for a ski holiday to Austria. That’s no surprise since Gerlos is one of the highest places in the Zillertal ski region and has a legendary après-ski scene. You can easily reach an altitude of 2,500 metres there, giving the area guaranteed snow. In the Zillertal Arena alone, which includes Gerlos, you can enjoy 143 kilometres of slopes. With more than 50 ski lifts in the area, all of the slopes are easily accessible. This allows you to make fun day trips from village to village throughout this beautiful area. There are plenty of spots for lunch right by the slopes too. Bring on a ski trip to Gerlos!

The perfect village for a great ski holiday

Real ski fans will get their money's worth in Gerlos. For many skiers, variety on the slopes and a lively village are the ideal combination for a successful ski trip. That’s Gerlos in a nutshell. And the best part is, if you book a ski holiday to Gerlos with Sunweb, a ski pass for the entire Zillertal valley will be included, including Hochzillertal and Zillertal 3000. Hochzillertal and Zillertal 3000 are connected by train. With more than 500 kilometres of slopes to enjoy, you can experience something different every day. Near Gerlos, you will mostly find red and blue slopes, but there are also two snow parks for daring snowboarders. Would you rather enjoy the beautiful Austrian landscape at a slower pace? Cross-country skiers will have plenty to discover along the 52 kilometres of specialty trails. In Gerlos, there are several excellent hotels and apartments to choose from. You can even book a last-minute, spontaneous trip. What are you waiting for?

Ideal conditions for activities

Thanks to its altitude, there is often a thick layer of snow in Gerlos and its surrounding area. So, fun on the slopes is a certainty. But there are also plenty of other winter activities to enjoy there. How about tobogganing down the Hainzenberg, paragliding, a walk to the reservoir, or a barbecue in the snow? You shouldn’t miss out on Gerlos’ après-ski scene either. It's one of the best après-ski spots in Austria. Dance until you drop to live music and DJs, all with a stunning view of the Alps. When are you going?

Zillertal Arena

The Zillertal Arena is a beautiful region which offers skiers and snowboarders some lovely routes that can take you from village to village. The Zillertal Arena has something to offer everyone. There are currently 234 snow canons, so the slopes are covered all season. Skiers can enjoy the many pisted runs while free-riders can opt to take on the deep snow or improve their stunts in the half pipe or the snow park! Cross country skiers can use the 53 km (33 ml) of cross country tracks, there are beautiful hiking trails and you can even sledge in the evening on an flood-lit track.

From the sun terrace of Larmachalm in Königsleiten you have a fantastic view of the ski resort of Gerlosplatte. These two parts of the Zillertal Arena are connected to each other by a four person chair lift. The modern eight person cable car, the Isskogelbahn, provides a perfect connection with the rest of the Zillertal Arena.

With your Zillertal lift pass you can also ski in the other resorts in the Zillertal like the Mayrhofen and Fügen. The glacier is also included in the lift pass.
